What's a tie without a knot? It's an applique! (continued)

In the last posting here, I showed you a Moschino shirt with a necktie applique that I had seen on a trend trip to New York for JOANN a few years ago,

as well as the shirt I had made to replicate, it using shirting fabric I had on hand, along with one of my dad's ties. (He would have been pleased so see his tie used in such a creative way.)

New Christmas Shirt the Moschino Way

Since all my Christmas shirts are at least 20 years old, I decided to make a new one with some Patrick Lose Christmas fabric (dots overlaid with snowflakes), using the Moschino shirt as inspiration. The last posting here documented the tie applique process; to review, go here: https://fabman556.wixsite.com/dan-the-fabric-man/single-post/2018/01/05/Knot-the-usual-tie

Unfortunately I was not able to finish the shirt in time for the posting, but I promised to share the finished product with you this week.

As I've said here before, I prefer to "replicate" expensive shirts from brands like Moschino, Desigual and Etro, to name a few. These shirts are much more fun to make...sort of like art to wear. Here are a few looks in my inspiration file for the coming season:

Just kidding. The following images are for real.

If there's a shirt inspiration here that catches your eye, let me know at the email address below. I'll be making a couple of new shirts (using multiple fabrics) to wear at Quilt Market this spring, showing some of our new fabric collections.

Until next time, keep those sewing machines humming, and if you're wearing a tie, please tie it, unless it's an applique.

DTFM
