It's amazing how some people can turn mere fabric scraps into a work of art. A few weeks ago I attended the local York County Quilt Guild show here in Rock Hill. The quilts on display were outstanding, and I am sharing some highlights with you here.

This quilt contains thousands of 1" squares. Blue ribbon? You bet...this is a LOT of piecing!

Incredible detail...such expertise. So many small pieces!

Great interpretations of basic techniques, and creative use of color and pattern.

More great use of color in traditional quilt patterns.

I really like the concept of the above quilt, although the fabrics are not my favorites.

Christmas quilts like this are fun, but that's a LOT of work (this one has plenty of detail) for a quilt that only sees the light of day for a few weeks each year.

It's always interesting to see how a traditional quilt design can look so different when the fabric choices are simplified. This color story has Amish overtones.

Small quilts are great for trying out a technique.

This is a creative use of prairie points, which are often used along a border.

Walking the entries in a quilt show is very inspiring. I hope you enjoyed the highlights of this show. Local quilt guilds are quite active; check out a guild show in your area if you have an opportunity.

Until next time, keep those sewing machines humming, and look for some inspiration wherever you are!
