National Bow Tie Day!

Of course Dan the Fabric Man wore a bow tie to work today on National Bow Tie Day! These beautiful autumn cotton fabrics were designed by Susan Winget and made some great-looking ties, don't you think?

It's easy to make bow ties from cotton prints, and the selection of seasonal and hobby-related fabric designs is plentiful at JOANN and Hobby Lobby, like these show, and at your favorite local quilt shop.
Most pattern companies offer bow tie patterns and the adjustable tie hooks are readily available on most sewing notion walls. I used a little Easy Knit fusible tricot interfacing on one side to give the tie a little body without stiffness.

Whether you prefer a bow tie that you can actually tie (like these) or a pre-tied style, these sew up fast, and make great gifts, too!
Until next time, keep those sewing machines humming, and sew up a few bow ties for someone special!
