On The Road Again!

On this holiday week, I'm sharing a visit to a local fabric shop in the greater Charlotte area. During a recent weekend, Mrs. DTFM & I headed to the nearby metro Gastonia, NC area to check out Sew Much Fun, located at 831 S Church St, Lowell, NC. As you will see, this shop is aptly named.

Large Selection

We were immediately impressed by the amount of fabric available here. The newer fabrics in the front of the store are merchandised by brand and collection. The shop is light and bright and is really easy to shop, walking through row after row of beautiful fabrics.

There is a big selection of beautiful batiks, clearly a strong focus here.

Following the collections in the front are solids, blenders, juvenile and licensed character prints. Novelty prints are merchandised by theme, like these sewing-related prints.

In the back of the shop is a great clearance area with fabrics marked down.

More Than Fabric

The shop has a large selection of books, patterns and store-made fat quarters.

Near the checkout area is a selection of of brand-name precuts. The shop also sells Bernina sewing machines.

Fabric is all top-quality brand names and prices are affordable. There are plenty of store employees available to offer assistance, and classes are available. For more information check their website: http://www.sewmuchfun4you.com/

While in Gastonia, we also checked out the old standby fabric source, Mary Jo's Cloth Store. It had been quite a while since our last visit here, and Mary Jo has passed away. The quilting fabric inventory is greatly diminished and I have heard that the store is for sale; it's just not the same store now. For information about the store, visit their website here: http://maryjos.com/store/

Until next time, keep those sewing machines humming, and be sure to support your local quilt shops.
