More quilts for Quilts of Valor
Twice a year our Springs Creative Open Hearts quilting group presents quilts we have made to area veterans of the US military. This is the highest honor a civilian can make to a veteran. I have committed to piecing three quilts for the upcoming presentation in May.

Typically these quilts are made with cotton fabric in some form of red, white and blue, and I did piece one of the quilts with fabrics with an overall patriotic theme.

I also have pieced two identical quilts using co-ordinating black and white stars and stripes fabrics and a black solid; these quilts will be bound in a deep red solid. (The image above shows the same quilt I made for the May 2018 presentation.) The black and white is a stark contrast to a sea of red, white and blue.

All three of these quilt tops are ready to be quilted on the long-arm quilting machine here at the office, bound in a contrast fabric, and then they'll be ready for the presentation.
The quilt presentations are very moving. Read about the Springs Creative connection to the US military and Quilts of Valor, and our presentation of quilts to veterans last November here:
Veterans have made many sacrifices so that we can continue to live in freedom, and it's a privilege to be part of a program that honors them in this way. If you're interested in participating in a Quilts of Valor program in your area, find a group here: https://www.qovf.org/
Until next time, keep those sewing machines running, and I'll get back to finishing these quilts for the presentation. And remember to thank a veteran for your freedom!
